2024 marks Goldfinger's 60th anniversary of its release in cinemas in 1964.
The film was Sean Connery's third outing as 007 after Dr No and From Russia With Love; the secret agent is hot on the trail of mysterious gold bullion smuggler Auric Goldfinger.
The iconic DB5 is driven by Bond through the hairpin bends in the Furka Pass in Andermat, Switzerland. Connery wears one of the most famous three/piece suits in history, the mid-grey Anthony Sinclair suit. It has continued to be Anthony Sinclair's most requested design ever since.
Richards of England have had the opportunity to restore the DB5, the majority of which are in the famous Silver Birch livery, 137 in total, although ROE has also been fortunate enough to have clients who have obtained different colour combinations such as Deep Carriage Green (4), Pacific Blue (4) and Sierra Blue (127).
The colour blue in all its variations certainly surpasses Silver Birch, with the reds topped by Dubonnet Rosso in second place. The colour of British racing classics for decades, green follows Silver Birch. Conversely, Silver Birch does indeed beat any other shade on an individual basis with 137 saloons and 17 convertibles.
