1957 Bentley S1 Fastback

This 1957 Bentley Fastback (Chassis Number: BC92BG) was supplied as a fully restored (body off) car, rebuilt to factory specification. The chassis was bead blasted and inspected by ROE. Any corrosion or weak sections were re-made. The engine, gear box, differential, and radiator were re-built by Bentley specialists Padgett Motor Engineers to the highest quality. This included all nuts, bolts, and linkages, receiving nickel plating. The rebuild featured high quality parts throughout, such as the Omega pistons. The radiator was re-corded to resolve the over heating issues that these vehicles tend to suffer with. 

 

New brake drums, rear leaf springs and front springs were fitted by ROE, along with new pipework and hoses throughout. The chassis had its full stainless steel exhaust system fitted by Bentley specialists, ‘Service Centre’. The body of the vehicle was hand stripped back to bare aluminium, revealing a good solid shell, requiring some very minor work. The Fastback then entered the body shop at ROE for final preparation and ‘dry fit’. The shell was painted in ROE's ‘in house’ state-of-the-art paint shop before being "married" to the chassis, ready for the body assembly.

 

The brightwork was re-chromed throughout with the paintwork being finished in its original velvet green. The trim was remade by ROE using traditional techniques from the factory. The leather used was a Connolly Vaumol light tan (VM3309) hide. Wilton wool was introduced for the carpets, along with West of England cloth for the head lining. The interior wood veneer only required re-lacquering and a polish.

The Fastback received such acclaim that Opus, producers of the world's finest luxury books, requested that BC92BG could feature in their limited edition Bentley Centenary Opus.
